The Utah Idaho Performing Arts Company is casting Pirates of Penzance, the Gilbert & Sullivan opera, and Hansel & Gretel, the Humperdinck opera performed in English. Joey Calkins, dir. Pirates of Penzance runs Sept. 7 & 8; Hansel & Gretel runs Oct. 5-20 at the Draper Historic Theatre in Draper, UT.

Pirates of PenzanceMajor-General Stanley; Frederic; Sergeant of Police; Chorus: singing, dancing chorus of pirates, police, and Major-General Stanley's daughters.

Hansel & GretelHansel: mezzo-soprano, a 'pants-role', double cast; Peter: the father, baritone. Note: The roles of the Dew-fairy, the Sandman, and the children's chorus will be held at a later time. The other roles in these operas have been cast from the previous round of auditions. Depending on the singers/actors acceptance/rejection of the role, other roles may be available.

Auditions will be held June 2, 4-6 p.m. at Draper Historic Theatre, 12366 South 900 East Draper, UT. Appointments suggested; walk-ins will be accepted as time allows. To schedule an appt., submit name, phone, email, and requested audition time via Back Stage. Prepare two complete songs/arias of contrasting nature. At least one must be in English.
