Organizers are looking for adult professional-quality actors from their 20s to 60s to fill 20 core cast roles in the summer Nauvoo Pageant.

Among the openings are 10 men’s roles, nine women’s roles and one role for a young man.

“The rigorous nature of the this outdoor summer pageant requires that core cast members be experienced, faithful LDS performers demonstrating a high degree of maturity, flexibility and willingness to work long hours,” states a news release about the auditions.

Once cast, candidates also must receive their bishop’s recommendation.

Rehearsals for selected candidates who live in Utah will be Sunday evenings in May and the first two Sundays in June.

Daily rehearsals begin mid-June in Salt Lake City and then continue in Nauvoo until the end of the pageant, which will run July 10 through Aug. 4.

Core cast members will receive a modest honorarium and the pageant will provide support for travel to and from Nauvoo, as well as accommodations while in Nauvoo.

Auditions will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Provo Jan. 18 and 19 and in North Salt Lake, Jan. 20 and 21. Callbacks will be on Jan. 27 and 28 in North Salt Lake.
