AUDITIONS for…

(1) The Son of the Widow: age 10-12; must look Semitic, Mediterranean or Middle-Eastern; must be able to take direction and focus well. As youth of this age haven’t had much time to build up a resume, this is not a prerequisite. However, please only apply if YOU (not your parent) sincerely WANT to do it and are truly interested. Parents, please only bring your child if he is fully capable of good focus and concentration.

(2) The Widow of Nain: age 30’s – 40’s; must look Semitic, Mediterranean or Middle-Eastern. For this role we need an actress who can believably turn on the water-works: she will be mourning her only son as he is carried to his tomb. A strong background in acting (preferably film-acting) is an absolute.

A WIDOW'S SON IS RAISED FROM THE DEAD Matthew 7:11-17

22 EXT. OUTSIDE THE VILLAGE OF NAIN -- DAY 22

JESUS, THE TWELVE and a LARGE GROUP OF DISCIPLES approach the
town. Just before they enter, a FUNERAL PROCESSION emerges in
front of them.

JESUS looks on respectfully as the "open bier" carrying the BODY
passes by, then a WOMAN who is the grief-stricken mother of the
deceased.

To the wonder of all, JESUS walks up to the WOMAN and says to
her, quietly...

JESUS

Weep not.

These words bring immediate comfort and, indeed, the WOMAN stops
weeping.

JESUS now strides forward and touches the bier and the MEN
carrying it stop and stand still.

JESUS (CONT'D)

Young man, I say unto thee, arise.

Only a beat elapses and suddenly the YOUNG MAN sits up on the
bier and pulls the linen covering off.

Everyone witnessing gasps.

Several seconds pass as the miracle is absorbed, including by
the YOUNG MAN, who is at first a bit disoriented, then seems to
draw in an understanding of what has just happened as he looks
into the amazed faces of the onlookers and then to his life-
resorted body.

THE YOUNG MAN

(finally)

Mother?

JESUS helps him slip down from the bier, then "delivers" him to
his astonished MOTHER and they embrace.

JESUS steps unassumingly away and enters the village and slowly,
all those traveling him, follow.
