This is for Craze talent only! Anyone not letting LDS casting know they are with Craze will not be represented. Good Luck !!!

PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION NOW SO YOU DO NOT MISS OUT!!!

The Missionary and Priesthood Departments of the LDS Church are teaming up to create a new training program for pre-missionaries, missionaries, and those returning from full-time missions.

As part of this effort, our department (Publishing Services) has been asked to create a selection of “period-drama” videos exemplifying faith in Our Savior through examples of missionary work from the New Testament, Book of Mormon, and Church History. We will cast about fifty speaking roles and two-hundred background (extra) roles.

We are especially in need of actors who are of non-white ethnicities and who comply with the following criteria:

APPLICANTS must…

(1)     …be active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who, according to their assigned ecclesiastical authority (bishop or branch president), are living a temple-worthy life.

(2)    …be legally eligible to work in the United States.

ROLES: The majority of speaking roles for these scripts belong to MEN between the ages of 25-40. They are authors of these records and are therefore the stories we tell. There are a few women’s roles and roles for men of other ages. Please apply, regardless of your demographic. (No children under the age of 16 will be needed at this time.)

Ø  Speaking Roles: We encourage you to apply for a speaking role if you have acting experience and training. Directions for your application may be found at the end of this e-mail.

As an addendum to this call, we are especially in need of two characters that have eluded our search to this point. Both are for the “New Testament” project, so we are seeking the “Middle Eastern/Mediterranean” appearance for these.

ISAAC, son of Abraham; age 17. (No beard, but plenty of dark curly hair.)

TIMOTHY, Disciple of Christ, post-ascension; age 25-35. (Having a beard is preferable, though not required.)

As noted below, we are also filling several other male roles in the age range between 25 to 50.

Thank you for your help.

Ø  Background (Extra) Roles: If you would like to participate, but have little-to-no experience with film or theatre, this is perfect for you! Please apply! No speaking lines are required. Just the experience of dressing up, being on set, and helping to bring these inspiring stories to life for our missionaries!

If YOU LIVE OUTSIDE of UTAH, we welcome your application! Those who land speaking roles will be given travel and lodging as needed. Background Actors (Extras) will be asked to work as locals.

This project is PAID.

LOCATION: All scenes will be produced here in Utah at the LDS Motion Picture Studio or at our satellite studio in Goshen, Utah.

SHOOTING DATES:  Specific dates have not been set. But shooting will probably occur between October 20th and November 21st, 2014. (No one will be needed the entire length of the shoot. Most roles will be for one or two days.)

NEW TESTAMENT

-            Olive-to-Dark complexion; Black hair (unless it’s turned white); most often noted by a prominent nose and piercing black eyes. Men wear beards and hair at least long enough to tousle (longer is better). Women’s hair is worn long.

-            African immigrants were also a part of the economic and cultural structure. We welcome your application!

BOOK of MORMON

-            Caramel complexion; Black hair (unless it’s turned white); most often noted by high, prominent cheekbones and deep-set black eyes. Men do not wear beards and have hair of varying lengths—usually very long, or completely shorn. Women’s hair is worn long.

CHURCH HISTORY

-            Fair complexion (from Northern Europe); hair and eyes are varied. Men generally wear beards and hair long enough to tousle. Women’s hair is worn long.

-            African-American saints were also a prominent part of early Church History. We welcome your application!

OTHER INFORMATION

·        Currently, NO CHILDREN under the age of 16 are needed. Please do not apply if you are under 16 years of age.

·        This production is not affiliated with any union. Utah is a “Right to Work” state.

HOW TO APPLY

All applicants will be asked to upload two current photos:

(a)       A headshot.

(b)       A profile photo that clearly shows your unobstructed face in profile.

(c)        Format: Only .jpg and .bmp formats under 1MB will be accepted.

BACKGROUND (EXTRA) APPLICANTS, please fill out this FORM to apply. That’s all you need to do!

ACTORS applying for a SPEAKING ROLE:

(1)     Women, for you there is only one side, and it can be found HEREMen, please go HERE and choose one of the scenes (monologues) from this site. (You may also find these sides at casting.lds.org.)  Look over the options and choose the one that resonates best with you. We will NOT be casting any of these roles (Peter, Paul, or Alma) from this audition, so don’t let that sway your decision. Look at the content and choose based on your ability to connect with it honestly.

(2)    Prepare. As you prepare, please keep in mind that we’re looking for a controlled passion, subtly intense and connected without being over-the-top.  Remember that this is a “film performance” as opposed to stage.

(3)     Record your audition to video and upload it to a web video sharing site (like YouTube or Vimeo.) Please DO NOT mark your video “private” or we won’t be able to see it! (Marking your video private incorporates a password.) Rather, mark it “UNLISTED,” which still makes it unsearchable, but available to those who have the URL address.

(4)    Complete this FORM where you will be asked to upload your photos and information, as well as the URL address of your audition. Make sure you put your Agency CRAZE AGENCY in appropriate column

(5)    Done!

If you have any difficulty with any of the websites, questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at SLcasting@LDSchurch.org.

We are so very grateful for your interest and support of this inspired project. We hope you will take the time to apply and look forward to reviewing your application.

Sincerely,

Alisa Anglesey | Casting Producer
