Addams Family' auditions at SCERA

To celebrate their 81st year, SCERA Center for the Arts announces auditions for the opening show of its 2014-2015 indoor season, the Utah Valley premiere of the new musical comedy “The Addams Family.”  It will be directed and choreographed by Shawn Mortensen, with music direction by Kelsey Thacker.  “The Addams Family” will play Sept. 12 through Oct. 4 on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.

ABOUT THE SHOW: The beloved TV series and movie is now a new musical comedy. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family - a man her parents have never met. And if that weren't upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he's never done before - keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday's 'normal' boyfriend and his parents.

Auditions for “The Addams Family” will be held on Saturday, July 12 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. in Room 201 at SCERA Center, 745 South State, Orem. Callbacks, for those invited, will be held July 19. Auditioners ages 17 and older should prepare to sing 16 bars from any Broadway show.  An accompanist or CD or IPOD playback will be available.  No appointment is necessary to audition.  A resume and headshot is helpful, but not required.

Rehearsals will begin July 22. For more information, call (801) 225-ARTS or visit www.scera.org under the Backstage tab.
