Cedar Valley Community Theatre Auditions for Annie

With their freshman performance under their belt, Cedar Valley Community Theatre is now looking towards tomorrow.  Their next production will be “Annie,” set to debut in January 2013.  Auditions for this upcoming musical are happening next week.  Children may audition on Tuesday, August 28th and adults may audition on Saturday, September 15th.  Both of the auditions will be held at St. Jude’s Episcopal Church on the corner of 70 North and 200 West.  Full audition details can be found on the community theater’s website, www.cedartheatre.org.

“We have plenty of parts for both children and adults in ‘Annie,’” Young continued.  “Aside from the title character, there’s evil Miss Hannigan, sleazy sidekicks Rooster and Lily, lovable Daddy Warbucks, Grace Farrell, charming radio show host, Bert Healy, and President Roosevelt, to name just a few. And there are great ensemble numbers with plenty of singing, dancing, and tumbling. Believe it or not, we are even casting a friendly dog to play the part of Sandy.”

Even if you don’t think you can sing or dance or play an instrument well enough to participate in the show, Young says there are still plenty ways to get involved.  “That’s the great thing about a community theater.  There are always opportunities to pitch in.”

“Annie” is the heart-warming story of a Depression-era orphan whose irrepressible enthusiasm leads her on an adventurous journey from rags to riches.  This musical features many memorable and catchy songs such as “Hard Knock Life”, “You’re Never Fully Dressed” and “Tomorrow.”

“Annie” will be Cedar Valley Community Theatre’s second production and the first of two shows planned for 2013.
