Utah-4 Northern Utah Theatre auditions

April 7, 2014

Kaysville

Auditions are open for the city’s upcoming Fourth of July production of “Anne of Green Gables,” a musical written by Norman Campbell and Donald Harron. Auditions will be on April 9 and 11.  Applicants are asked to prepare a one-minute song in the style of the show. 

Audition slots are open from 7-930 p.m. both days, though appointments are required. Those can be made by sending an e-mail to kaysvillecitytheatre@yahoo.com with your requested audition time, though a confirmation e-mail will need to be sent back to you before the appointment is official.

Clearfield

Auditions for the city’s summer musical, “The Sound of Music,” will be held April 19 at the Clearfield Community Center. The auditions are open to everyone ages 5 and older, though parents must be with anyone ages 12 or younger. Those auditioning should come prepared to sing 30 seconds of a musical theater song. Accompaniment will be provided. 

The city is also holding auditions for their youth production of Peter Pan on May 3 from 9 a.m. to noon. Callbacks will be from 1-2 p.m. that same day. Kids or teens must be between the ages of 8-15 to audition.

CASTING CALL! LOOKING FOR ACTORS!

Hey, my name is JP Marretta I currently in my last couple terms of earning my Bachelors in Cinematography. I am in Pre-Production of my senior thesis film that I wrote and planning to direct called Invalid Pin. Invalid Pin is a dark comedy about a Home Improvement Store Manager who gets caught up with an ATM Thief. He has two choices; Help the thief and split the money, or do the morally correct thing. What is the morally correct thing to do in that situation. Everyone’s answer will be different. right? The reason I am coming on here is to ask for your help with casting. Below are some of the character descriptions:

KAMERON - MALE - LEAD

Mid 20’s, Home improvement store manager with a scruffy beard and a real carefree spirit. Self centered and concern for only himself. He finds himself in a tough moral decision wether to help out an ATM Thief or not. Kameron is often the comic relief in the film.

DONALD - MALE - SUPPORTING LEAD

Mid to late 20’s, An ATM thief, slim and always a step ahead. He is very mysterious but strategically acts down to the level of his counter-part Kameron. Donald is an experienced thief with multiple tricks up his sleeve.

FRANK - MALE - SUPPORTING

Late 20’s a co-worker of Kameron, Frank is very laid back guy who is only in the film for short periods of time but is pivotal to the story.

JAKE - MALE - MINOR ROLE

Late 20’s/Early 30’s Jake is a motorcycle enthusiast with a punk rocker look. He is Kameron’s personal motorcycle handler.

MR. WONG - MALE - MINOR ROLE

Late 30’s - 40’s, Mr. Wong, asian descent, is a Chinese Restaurant owner. (lines are in Chinese)

JANET - FEMALE - MINOR ROLE

Early 20’s Janet is Kameron’s wife, a stay at home mom with two kids, and one on the way.

KID 1 & KID 2 - MALE OR FEMALE - MINOR ROLE

8-14 year old kids. Short speaking roles each.

Notes : My first choice on both these spots is “Mediterranean” but send me who you have who speaks Spanish fluently, We are looking for Native speakers first. I don’t have a Spanish version yet so please have your talent translate from English to Spanish, before they come in.

BREAKDOWN

DAD looks 30 to 40 years old Mediterranean, Latin, Spanish Looking, Speaks fluent Spanish (He should
have the to do list and the Gum script prepared and translated to spanish) He will have a child on his shoulders so make sure he doesn’t have any back injurys.

SON looks 5-7 Mediterranean, Latin, Spanish Looking (should have to do list Script) although a killer 4
year old would work…just small, terribly cute, innocent and vulnerable. he delivers the “gotcha” line to
dad with such big eyed sincerity he just makes dad stop and take stock of what’s really important. spanish
speakers but if they speak english as a second language can do the dialogue in english after proving for a
few sentences, on-camera, they are fluent spanish speakers. 

Daughter is 4 or 5 Mediterranean, Latin, Spanish Looking, sitting on dad’s shoulders as per script. Must speak Spanish.

A murder mystery by Ayn Rand as adapted by Nathaniel Edward Reeid and directed by Lance Taylor.

Run Dates: May 30, 31, Jun. 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, and 14, 2014.

Audition Dates: April 5 and 6.

Director’s note: SCT will be producing the “edited” version of this script which is different from any version posted on some internet sites. This version is lighter & more comedic than the original script. Most roles are non-gender and/or non-age specific.

Females: 2 lead roles ages 20-35; 3 support roles. One role is an ethnic minority character, specifically an African-American woman.
