Audition notice for "Dating in This Town"
Seeking actresses
for a relationship comedy about the struggles men and women face in
dating and relationships. This is a non-union, non paid project. Copy,
credit, and meals will be provided.
Movie will be filmed in Las Vegas, with a shoot date of late July/early August.
Auditions will be held mid July in Las Vegas. Submission deadline is
June 29th. Time, date, and location of audition will be emailed. Sides
will be emailed a week prior to auditions.
The intent with this
film is to gain exposure and secure distribution through the film
festival circuit (Sundance, Raindance, Toronto, Austin, Tribeca, etc).
This is a project written, directed, produced, and funded by me. And
although this is the definition of "micro-budget", with the strength
script and a relatable story, I'm certain we can make something truly
special together, taking the film festival circuit by storm. I have a
dozen other original scripts in various stages of development. "Dating
in This Town" is the first step to making the rest of them a reality.
Loosely based on my life over the last few years, this is the story of a
heartbroken man and a jaded woman. Both looking for that elusive
connection in this difficult town. It's a dialogue heavy, cynical
comedy.
I will be playing the role of Ben; a heartbroken guy,
trying to get over his ex, and maybe trying too hard to make a
connection with the women he dates.
Seeking actresses for the following roles:
Jamie: A salesperson in her late 20s, she flirts with Ben to close a
deal. Of course he mistakes this flirtation for her actually liking him,
and not just a means to an end to sell him some palm trees for the
landscaping company where he works in the creative yard design
department. She's sexy and tough, yet shows an almost innocent,
flirtatious side. Is she just closing a deal, or is there something
there between them?
Sharay: When the construction company where
she worked closed its doors after the housing market crashed, Sharay was
out of a job. A friend convinced her to try going on a call for an
escort service. Hesitant at first, but being the kind of woman with
tremendous sex appeal, and the confidence to own any room she walked
into, she gave it a shot. And her mortgage wasn't going to pay itself.
The money was great and the schedule was even better. But after 5 years
in the business, and now in her mid 30s, she's begun to despise the men
who paid for her Escalade, and handbags, and designer clothes. She's
ready to leave the business, but has one last client to see.
Marcy: An exercise enthusiast with a stunning body, and an equally
capable mind for business, her new niche diet has taken the marketplace
by storm. But now she's on the verge of turning 30, and there's one
thing missing; the right guy to share her life. She takes a shot with a
guy who is a little different than the typical muscle head she usually
dates. Will this be the love connection that's been missing from her
life? Or will he fail to measure up to her expectations?
Jillian:
She turns laps at the roller derby at night, and turns wrenches as a
motorcycle mechanic by day. And in her mid 30s, she's as tough as she is
sexy. Jillian doesn't take any shit from anyone. Not even the guys she
dates. And to see if they can pass the test, she brings her first dates
to the derby, to see how they react to being beaten up by a girl.
Victoria: As a cocktail waitress, the money and the attention come
equally as easy. Now in her late 30s, the endless hours on her feet have
taken their toll on her body. Finding a decent guy plugging away his
paycheck in a slot machine isn't gonna happen. She meets a guy online.
After several texts and phone calls, she begins to feel comfortable with
him. Maybe too comfortable. When they finally meet for their first
date, she begins to tell him everything. Including her crippling pill
addiction and the crazy men from her past.
Danielle: Jilted by
her ex fiancé, and in her mid 20s, she's ready to settle down. But she
doesn't want any surprises. She meets a guy she feels that initial
connection, but doesn't want to take any chances. She's sweet, yet
vulnerable, but trying to be strong. With a heart still healing, she
presents a relationship contract to the new man in her life. All the
important milestones are outlined. But does he want the certainty (and
lack of mystery) it provides?
