It's time, once again, for LDS Audiovisual Casting Open Auditions!

LDS Casting is asking that Craze Agency Talent interested in auditioning for future projects contact LDS Casting individually as Audition slots are set up at a first come first serve basis.

All individual talent bookings and casting opportunities will go through the Agency.

Please read ALL of the below info. carefully and thoroughly so you can be considered for LDS projects!

You do NOT need to audition…

*      …if your interests are in "Extra" or "Voice Over" work only.

*      …if you've auditioned for LDS Audiovisual Casting recently (within the last year).

*      …if you are under 17 years of age.  (Please see “CHILDREN & TEENS” below.)

ABOUT OPEN AUDITIONS

These are not designed to audition for any specific role. Open Auditions are for the purpose of issuing a "rating" to your abilities as an actor. This rating will be used internally to assist with future project casting.  Auditions are also helpful as an opportunity for them to meet with and get to know you.

If LDS Casting has not seen you recently — in the last two or three years —  or ever, please come! Casting would love to be reminded of you! This will assist them with future casting needs in light of upcoming projects.

CHILDREN & TEENS

Casting will NOT be "general auditioning" children or teens as the need for these is always specific by project.  They do, however, encourage you to send in CURRENT PHOTOS and personal contact information. Children grow so fast!  If you haven’t sent in a photo of your child within the last year, PLEASE DO SO! You could even e-mail it in to AVDcasting@LDSchurch.org

If you are under 17 and would like to attend Open Auditions, you must submit a current and complete resume via e-mail first. Please write in the SUBJECT line: "OA Resume".  Casting will then determine from your level of experience if they will contact you to set up an audition appointment.  (Please don't forget to include contact information in your e-mail!)

SCORING

Auditioners will receive a rating from one-to-four based on the combined responses from their panel of judges. This panel will consist of an AV Casting Representative, along with at least two additional experienced casting directors, actors, directors, or university-level instructors who have achieved a professional level of expertise in the fields of film and/or theatre.

Please audition ONLY if you have had dramatic training or experience.

Please bring your:  • Current Headshot and Résumé --Yes, even if you've already sent one in.

                            • Current Temple Recommend or Bishop’s Clearance Letter. (They will ask to see it.)

PREPARATION

Casting asks that you prepare two contrasting monologues 1-minute (or less) each.

You will be timed.  Please adhere to the time constraints so they may see all those who have appointments.

Monologues…

*      …should be within your performing age range.

*      …may consist of any material you feel is appropriate:

a.       dramatic or comedic

b.      from a film or a play

c.       We discourage poetry, songs, or self-created material.

*      The best monologues are ones in which you, the actor, have a specific objective.

*      Remember that these auditions are for FILM, not stage.  We ask that you prepare accordingly.

*      No improvisations and no props, please.

A short Cold Reading will also be required. Please arrive early enough to look over the appropriate side before your scheduled audition time. (10 minutes should allow plenty of preparation—please do not arrive any earlier than this.)

DATES and TIMES

Open Auditions will take place at the LDS Motion Picture Studio in Provo, Utah. The schedule is as follows:

*      Thursday, November 5, 2009 • 12:00 noon - 8:00 pm.

*      Saturday, November 7, 2009 • 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

*      Thursday, November 12, 2009 • 12:00 noon - 8:00 pm.

*      Saturday, November 14, 2009 • 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

To SCHEDULE an AUDITION

*      Please e-mail  at: AVDcasting@LDSchurch.org

*      Please include at least three (3) possible dates and times (in order of preference) you would be available to audition.

*      Casting will schedule on a first come, first serve basis. They suggest you schedule early to ensure your preferred time!

*      All auditions must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance.

CHANGING or CANCELING your APPOINTMENT

If you need to change or cancel your scheduled audition time, please extend the courtesy of notifying them as soon as possible. Due to the high number of applicants they cannot guarantee there will be an opening available later in the day if you miss a scheduled appointment.

Please do not make an appointment and then not attend!  Besides being inconsiderate and unprofessional, it denies others the opportunity to fill that time.

If you arrive without a scheduled appointment, your information will be accepted but another audition date and time will need to be arranged through the Casting Office. (This includes friends or extra members of a family who did not schedule an appointment.)

IF YOU ARE OUT-OF-STATE or CANNOT ATTEND...

Casting recognizes that many of you may live out-of-state and cannot attend these yearly auditions. If you would like to submit a video or DVD of your skills (as outlined above), please feel free to do so!

You may submit this information:

(1)    Via E-mail to AVDcasting@LDSchurch.org. Be aware that video files tend to be large and may not e-mail well. If you upload to an FTP site, just include the URL address in your e-mail (and password, if necessary). Please submit under the Subject Line: “OPEN AUDITIONS”.
