A Source of Joy Theatricals is casting "Dreamgirls," the musical. Torrey
Russell, dir.; Megan Schnizlein, music dir.; Avree Walker, choreo.
Project description: The musical, based upon the show business aspirations and successes of R&B acts such as The Supremes, The Shirelles, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, and others, follows the story of a young female singing trio from Chicago called "The Dreams," who become music superstars.
Rehearsals begin January 2013; runs early March 2013 in Las Vegas, NV.
Seeking—Singer/Dancers/Actors: males and females, 16+, all types and vocal ranges, all ethnicities, powerful singing voices, dynamic dancers and excellent actors,
Auditions will be held Dec. 29 & 30, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. (must be signed in by 3:30 p.m.) for singers and actors, and Dec. 30, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for dancers only (must be signed in by 10:50 a.m.) at West Las Vegas Theatre, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd., Las Vegas, NV.
Singers/actors should prepare one up-tempo and one ballad R&B, soul, blues or gospel song. A piano track of all songs from the show in the original key will be provided as well as an accompanist will be available to play sheet music in its original key (all songs must be sung in the original key). Dancers should come warmed up and ready to dance, a combination will be taught.
