Casting for a Christian themed feature film titled, "The Accident."

Storyline
Grace Keller is on her way home for Christmas break.  She's got everything going for her:  she's a committed Christian; she's graduating with her Doctorate soon;  she's about to become engaged;  and her older sister (and best friend) is about to announce that she's pregnant with twins.  As Grace nears her parents' home on a dark, rainy Christmas Eve, a terrible accident happens.  Eight-year-old Scarlet Rein runs out in front of her car, gets hit, and dies a few hours later in the emergency room.

Scarlet's parents, Rick and Maxine, are not Christians.  Will the accident help, or further hinder, their search for a relationship with God?

Maxine's mother, Victoria, has never been comfortable around Maxine's husband.  Maxine didn't marry money, and Scarlet was adopted because Maxine couldn't get pregnant.  How will Scarlet's death affect their relationship?

Sam is the only child of wealthy parents, Carl and Cindy.  They've noticed a change in Sam since he started dating Grace. How does Scarlet's death affect Sam, and, eventually, Carl and Cindy?

Uncle Charlie is Maxine's uncle.  He adores Maxine.  How does Scarlet's death affect him?

Maxine has a secret that she's ashamed about.  Victoria has a secret that she's ashamed about.  Uncle Charlie has a secret that he's ashamed about.  Will Scarlet's death allow them to work through their shame and be able to start a relationship with Jesus Christ?

This is a "no budget" film, although they do intend to pay the actors when/if the film is released or if it wins an award at a film festival.  Production will feed the cast and crew and might be able to help the supporting roles with hotel/room accommodations if needed.

Characters

Gracie Keller:  is a 25-year-old graduate student, working on her Doctorate in music education at the University of Phoenix.  She has been dating Sam Nelson for 2 years.  She is the younger sister of Hannah, and the daughter of Grant and Sharon Keller.  She has come home to celebrate Christmas with her family.  She has been a Christian her entire life.

Sam Nelson:  is a 27-year-old graduate student, working on his Doctorate in  engineering at the University of Phoenix.  He has been dating Grace Keller for 2 years.  He is the only child of Carl and Cindy Nelson.  Sam is a relatively new Christian - coming to salvation after meeting Grace.  He is solid in his faith, however.  His parents are not saved, but have been intently observing his relationship with Grace and have noticed a change in Sam since he became a Christian.

Grant Keller:  is Gracie's dad.  He is active at their local Bible church, and volunteers his time in various roles there.  He took an early retirement.  He's usually the prankster in the family.

Sharon Keller:  is Gracie's mom.  She has always been a homemaker and is also active at their local Bible church.   She serves on various committees at the church.

Carl Nelson:  is Sam's dad.  He is the president of a medium-sized engineering firm, with several hundred employees.  He has noticed a change in Sam since Sam started dating Gracie.  He likes Gracie but hasn't shown an interest in attending church or listening to Bible discussions.

Cindy Nelson:  is Sam's mom.  She is a quiet person who lets her husband's status shine.  She is a homemaker, and loves to cook.

Hannah:  is Gracie's older sister.  She is pregnant with twins and is planning to surprise her parents by telling them on Christmas day through a poem that her husband, Mark, has written.  Hannah and Gracie have always been close sisters.

Mark:  is Hannah's husband.  He's a quiet person with a strong faith in our Lord.   He and Hannah have been married for 5 years.

Scarlet Rein:  is a happy-go-lucky 8-year-old who loves life and isn't afraid of anything.  She was adopted at birth by Rick and Maxine, and is their only child.

Maxine Rein:  is Scarlet's mom, and was raised to believe that women should be equal with men in the workplace. She rose to the very top of the corporate ladder before meeting and falling in love with Rick.  They have been married for ten years.  Because she didn't marry "money" and couldn't get pregnant, her mother pretty much disowned her. She has a fiery temper and fiercely protects what she holds dear, which is her family.  She volunteers at Scarlet's school often.

Rick Rein:  is Scarlet's dad. Age 35-45ish.  He is a quiet man who works at the local hardware store and makes a modest living for his family.  He is proud of his wife and daughter.  His daughter gets hit by a car and later dies in the ER.  He is married to head-strong Maxine.  Is agnostic, but accepts Christ as his Savior toward the end of the film.

Mel Burns:  age 25-35ish.  Works with Rick at the hardware store.  He is married to Corrine and they are expecting their first child.  He is a committed Christian and tries to see if Rick and Maxine would like his pastor to come and pray with them after their daughter dies.

Corrine Burns:  is married to Rick and is 7 months pregnant.

Uncle Charlie:  age 60-ish.  He is gay.  Need a fun character for this guy.  He makes the film not so sad.  He adores Maxine.  He has a secret, so there is a serious scene when he is telling Maxine his secret.  Picture Uncle Charlie as a bit overweight, as he is an executive chef in New York.

Ralph:  is Maxine's only sibling.  Age 40-50ish. He is a successful stockbroker from New York and good-looking. He is Maxine's brother.  They fly out for the funeral.  Ralph is a committed Christian but hasn't told Maxine.  He leads her to the Lord during the film.  So this is a character who they want to be a committed Christian.  Ralph has some lines about Christianity that might make various religions not quite agree.

Jennie:  age 40-50ish.  She is Ralph's wife.  She doesn't have as many speaking roles or scenes as Ralph.  She is a classy-looking lady, but not necessarily dressed classy in all of the scenes, because they've travelled out for the funeral.

Scott:  is Ralph & Jennie's oldest son, age 16.

Jared:  is Ralph & Jennie's younger son, age 14.

Victoria:  is Maxine's mother.  She is very wealthy and rules the roost.  She does not like the fact that Maxine married a poor person.  She blames Rick for many untrue things.  She is a stubborn person and loves attention, so she thrives on making everyone's lives miserable while she complains of aches and pains.  She does not consider Scarlet to be her true granddaughter.

Hugh:  is Maxine's father.  He has put up with Victoria for 50 years.  He doesn't say much because he isn't allowed to.

Zoe:  is Scarlet's best friend.  They have taken piano lessons from the same teacher for a couple of years.

Officer Larkin:  Don't care what age, but they picture him as 50-60-ish.  He is in 2 scenes:  the car accident, and then he has to do his report at Grace's home.

Pastor Jim:  a grandfather and gentle man.  He meets with the two couples in his office (separately) and presides over the funeral.  He is also in the Christmas Day scene at the church and converses with some of the characters.
