The Masque of Beauty & the Beast
By Michael Elliot Brill

Sprightly dialogue, delightful and varied characterizations, and a brilliantly theatrical handling of the story creates magic on all levels. It is performed in the manner of a sixteenth century French masque, the play effectively utilizes an eloquent Narrator, and a simple set.

At this castle, the Beast is imprisoned by his own “ugly” personal traits such as greed, selfishness, and conceit. Over time and through developing friendships, he gradually turns into a character that is kind, caring, and sharing. It is based on the 17th Century fairytale, La Belle et La Bete, by Madame Le Prince de Beaumont.
